Hearts dangled from the Sweetheart tree, while couples gathered ' round the wishing well or danced to the sounds of “Bay Rhum.” Marrin’ Sam was available all evening for those couples bold enough to chance “Hitchin’ Up,’’ but, alas, it lasted only ' til midnight. With all the country charm of Dogpatch, the Sadie Hawkin’s Dance was a great success. Even “cripples enjoyed Sadie Hawkins. The Band, “Bay Rhum.” Everyone searched for their personalized heart on the Sweetheart Tree. This couple is off to the Hitchin ' Post. The Hitchin’ Post has no business problems. “Yes, you can kiss her now.” Smooth and slow — for a few minutes. Pig-tailed and freckled, wearing patches and plaids, the excitement of Sadie Hawkins, in the country of Dogpatch, showed on the faces of countless Li’l Abners and Daisy Maes. Quite appropriately a “Sadie Hawkins Court” of handsome young gents was selected. Bob Anderson was “Li’l Abner” and “Abner-of-honor” was Scott Holland. “I’ve got it — I’m to love, honor and obey her . . Student Life 21

SPURT! UIEER Barry Wilson and David Focht push for a senior victory in the Sparta Games. “I don’t care how cold it is, get in the car.” How do those cheerleaders do it? SENIORS! Eve ryone “dressed down” as their favorite star from stage or screen for the beginning of Sparta Week. The festivities were kicked off with a pep rally for the powder puff football game. Male cheerleaders, supporting the Senior girls, added spirit and humor to the pep rally. In the pow¬ der puff game between the Junior and Senior girls, the Seniors won with a score of 13 to 0. On Monday night the Dating Game was held, and there were laughs and fun for everyone participating or observing. With Tuesday came the well known “Sparta Games.” Many “skillful” athletes competed in such events as pie eating and trike riding. The Seniors outdid the other classes by excelling in various events to be¬ come the victors of the games. Student Life 23
