THE EVENTS OF SPARTA WEEK This year Sparta Week was truly A Time to Remember . The week started off with a pep rally. The Junior girls then took on the Senior girls in the Powderpuff football game. The Seniors proved their supremacy with an 8-6 victory. Andy Mayfield escorts Nancy Lyons in the F.H.A. Fashion Show. The Junior Class float helped to scare off the Croveton Tigers! The Spirit of 76 spooked up a big 3rd place for the Juniors. Woodstock tamed the tiger on the Seniors ' first place float. SPARTA WEEK A TIME TO REMEMBER Sugar and spice and everything nice? Some people are just too pushy! Suzie Buchwalter pursues Cindy McKinney in the Powderpuff Football Game. The fun-loving Spartans came to view the Olympic Games. They started with the egg throwing contest and the tricycle race, and followed with the wheelbarrow race, the pie eating contest, and the tug-of-war. The excitement of the week continued with the F.H.A. Fashion Show. The Junior Team makes a good-looking bunch of numbers. Student Life 27

Freshman cheerleaders escort their class float. The Marching Band moves quickly to get into position. Drill Team co-captains Jackie Stewart and Cindy Carlson take pride in announcing the theme for Homecoming Week. Stick ' em up big boy! smiles Laurie Frost. The co-chairmen of the homecoming committee, Laurie Frost and John Kariak, did a wonderful job or¬ ganizing the events of the week. The bonfire and follies led up to the game against Groveton. On Friday, the homecoming parade led the crowds through the area and back to the school. At halftime the awards for the floats were announced with the Seniors winning first place. The defeat of Groveton topped off the week perfectly. The Spartan Homecoming crowd waits for the Presentation of the Homecoming Queen. Student Life 29
