M blue 84 20111 commencement L L Q he theme of this year's Commencement pro- gram was Wllhe Meaning of a High School Education. Rather than a summary of the student's formal education it was an interpretation of his growth through high school. Wfhe Meaning of a High School Educa- tioni' is, of course, a development of the Annual theme, uSchool Spirit, only in rather a different sense. Bess Lowry, Salutatorian, touched upon the high school of a few generations ago. The speakers following each discussed a different phase of his growth in high school: Thurley Haga, 5'W01'k,,g Max Owsley, GLeisure',, Don Hiatt, MAH Appreciationvg Zoe Lund, '6Tolerance, giv- ing a definite example of school life and its relation to his subject. Stanley Gibson, Valedictorian, told something of the ideal school of the future. The musical part of the program, under the direction of Mr. Behy- mer, was rather different. In place of the solos usually offered, several chorus numbers were given, including a great many more students upon the program. Deva Parrott gave a very lovely violin solo. v , ZOE LUND STANLEY GIBSON H THURLEY HAGA ,, DON HIATT Bess Lowm' MAX OYVSLEY L A 15 A
