Included in the course are lessons in home management and child care. The emphasis is always on gracious living. ln cooking class the girls learn much more than the art ot cooking. They study nutrition, meal planning, and the making of a balanced diet. They learn table setting and service and the importance of cleanliness in the kitchen. The titty minute class period demands efficiency upon the part of the cooks and here, as well as in the home, time management is essential. ln all the practical arts courses the emphasis is always on applying the theory to the practice-to learn by doing. 30 Culinary craft Plone fczcfs A hem and gusset FINE ARTS! To be elected, students must show outstanding scholarship, leadership, character, and service. Society members act as guides at special school programs, participate in social events, and supervise the Scholarship Rating Committee. The officers are James Nicoll, president, Richard Nail, vice-president, and Mary Ann Mills, secretary. 66 STANDARD BEARER AND GUAR- DIAN OF THE FLAG: Richard Nail, Janet Kiehle. At the end of their iunior year two students, a boy and a girl, are chosen to be Standard Bearer and Guardian of the Flag during their senior year. These two students are selected for outstanding schol- arship and citizenship. SCHOLARSHIP RAT I NG COMMITTEE: To the Scholar- ship Rating Committee fall the duties of checking ratings, figur- ing homeroom and class medi- ans, and making lists of honor roll members. Headed by Thomas Walters, the committee composed of two representatives from each homeroom was assisted by Na- tional Honor Society members. I I 67 Best Actor ..... Best Actress 77.,.
