He has served well in his manifold role of leader, counselor, and adviser, and has thereby made our life at West.High School happier. He has kept our intellectual, social, and cultural standards high. Moreover, he has upheld the spirit of our school, the most important element of all. It is because of these things that we inscribe this book to him. Tm: CLASS or 1950 5 C. WILLARD BURT Principal . No. I9 Undecided clams will ann testament Before passing from these halls of West High to go forth into the Great Outside, some of us in search of early careers, some seeking further knowledge, we, the Class of 1950, do hereby declare our Last Will and Testament: 1. First of all, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to every member of the faculty for helping to make these the best years of our lives. 2. To the underclassmen we bequeath the job of keeping up West High's excellent standards and traditions. Good luck and have fun! 3. To the English Department we leave 1,000 morocco-bound copies of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales to be handed out as bonuses to its best students. 4. To all who frequent the men teachers' room, we leave one gross of ping-pong balls, 3 dozen ashtrays, 10 king-size cuspidors, and one Esquire Girl Calendar. 5. For the comfort and convenience of all the ladies in the women teachers' room we bequeath 4- sets of lace curtains, 7 eiderdown pillows, and two quivers of knitting needles with yarn. 6. For the students on the upper floors we provide for the construction of a fire pole for them to slide down on at lunch time. 7. To Rodney Parshall we leave 12 Nubian slaves to tow his car for him whenever it goes on one of its frequent sit-down strikes. 8. We provide that all periods be shortened, making room for a new one at the beginning of the school day to be used by students wishing to finish their nine hours sleep. 9. To Mr. Naramore we leave two tons of Piper's Peppy Puppy Food. 10. To Mrs. Agnew we bequeath one extra-fidelity hearing aid by which she may more easily hear the quavering speeches of her erstwhile dramatists. 11. To Mr. Carpenter we leave the Harvard electronic brain for use in checking students' algebra papers. 12. To .lames Dunn we leave a set of false moustaches, to Marge Strassner a life membership in the Chatterbox Club, and to Hugh McGlashon a box of Gillette double-edge blades. 13. We provide that all gym courses be dropped from the curriculum and in their places substituted classes teaching the Art of Sleeping and Resting Properly. 14. For the advancement of scientific research we bequeath Peter Ovenburg to the Science Department. 15. For the same reason we leave the Science Department to Peter Ovenburg. 16. Lastly, to all our Class and Students' Association oilicers, Dick Coates, Dick Stahlberger, Barbara Cooper, Evelyn Prinzivalli, James Whatford, and Marjorie Caseg Charles Walter, Tom Eschmeyer, Janet Harder, and Dick Ahern, and to all the Students' Association Representatives, we would like to extend our deepest thanks for helping to make our Senior Year at West the happiest.
