Assistant Principal John Bock This was Mr. Bock's first year at WPHS, and the job of activities director kept him busy. He received his B.A. at Wayne State college and his M.A. at Northeast Missouri University at Klrksville, Missouri. Mr. Bock taught and coached at Muscatine, Iowa, for 6 years before coming to WPHS. Principal Earl Boyum Mr. Boyum has been at WPHS for two years. He graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D., in 1955. He received his M. Ed. from SDSW IN Brookings, S.D. He has spent 18 years as teacher or administrator. Mr. Lowe has been at WPHS for four years. He is a graduate of Peru State college where he received his B.S. degree. Mr. Lowe received his M.A. degree from the University of Nebraska. He has 25 years of experience as teacher, coach and administrator. Administration Superintendent Earl Lowe

The new high school originally approved in 1971 Past Dreams Become Present Realities Inside the gym In 1965. West Point citizens turned down plans to build a new junior-senior high school building. In 1968. a second attempt failed in the voting booths. At last, in October 1971 voters approved plans to give West Point a badly needed, larger and more modern public high school. The school, after many changes in the original plans, will look different from the architect's drawing on this page, and the inside room arrangements will be very different. With opening day set for the 1974-1975 school year, these pictures, taken in May 1973, showed that the dreams were really coming true.
