% Her Step-Husband The Senior Class Play, HERSTEP-HUS- BAND, was presented in the high school auditorium April 20, 1956. The cast included Joan Anderson, as Mary Marshall, the charming but designing wife and mother who hated lies. Ronald En- gelhardt, Harvey Marshall, her broad- minded and obliging husband, filled the role of butler while Lloyd Woerner, as Dr. Niles, played the part of the step- husband who unwittingly made many blunders embarrassing Mary and enraging Harvey. Lorilie Lutz, as Sylvia, made a vain at- tempt to help a confused situation while Carol Tietz, as Stella, the maid, did the work, trained the butler and tended the baby. Rodney Degner, Limpy Lannigan, the crook, was apprehended by Police Officer Shea, DeLoyBenne, who had difficulty in telling a glentlemin from a crook. Aunt Emily, Donna Barton, watched all proceedings with a cynical eye and finally accepted Dr. Niles as the fiance of her niece Flossie, Vivian Ahrndt, and made some belated apologies to Harvey P. Mar- shall. The play was directed by Mabel R. Krause with Twyla Peterson as student director.

National Honor Society There are about 6,000 chapters of the National Honor Society in the United States. Itis the ONLY high schoolhonor society that is national. Election to membership is greatly desired, but only those who can measure up to the high standards and ideals are eligible. Scholarship is first empha- sized and every member should have at least a nB average. Selection is then made by the faculty of those who have shown evidence of high character, school and community service, and an ability to lead others in a worthy enter- prise. In short the qualifications are scholarship , leadership, character , and service. Every semester a certain percent- age of students are picked for the great honor. Pictured above are the senior members: Lorelie Lutz, Twyla Peter- son, Allan Miller, Donna Barton, and Joan Anderson. 24
