P. 31 West Point High’s basket ball team finished a very successful season. The high spot o f the season was the winning of the District Class C Tournament, played at Midland College. The Cadets’ hopes of entering the State Tournament were lost when they were defeated by Stanton i n the regional plsyoff at Wayne. The ten boys that earned letters are: Donald Benne, Bob Camp, Bob Diers, Donald Gustafson, Benny Lambrecht, Robert Peters, Glenwood Rush, Walter Schmidt, Paul Sorensen, and Donald Starr. —26—

THIRD ROW: Lawrence Benne, Sally Stover, Raymond Stover, Eldon Lorenzen, Phyllis Fredoehl, Bonnie HcFherson, Beverly McPherson, Beverly Johnson, Donna Johnson, Aria Lae Solfermoser, Elizabeth Hoodie. FOURTH ROW: Dick Childs, Robert Hasebrook, Dick Simonson, ’.Valter Kollmorgen, Merlin Erickson, Donald Benne, Mr. H. Cecil, Ernest Carlson, Ivan Stratton, Jim Lubker, Lorraine Kleeman, David Wortrnan. The band was composed o f thirty-eigjit members fro m hi$i school and the grades. Rehearsals were held every afternoon, with Mr. Herbert Cecil directing. Ihe marching band was first seen in uniform at the home football games. The band members were led in maneuvers by drum majorette, Catherine Jerman, and four twirlers— M a r y St. Clair, Harriet Jones, Betty Stratton, and Patty Westerhoff. The Pep Band did a grand job of helping us support our team by playing a t p e p rallies, football and basketball games. —27
