STUDENT UNCIT FIRST ROW: Aria Mae Solfermoser, Sally Stover, Darlene Bliemeister, Ellis Rail, Darlene Henry. SECOND ROW: Mr. Childs, V,'alter Kollmorgen, Benny Lambrecht, Miss Bergt. Under the guidance of Mr. Childs and Miss Bergt, the Student Council again played a very active part in school affairs. The Student Council members authorized the selling of War Bonds and Stamps; and by their tireless efforts, the school usually obtained its goal of selling at least one stamp a month to each student. It was the Student Council who came up with its six-point plan to help improve some of the conditions that needed attention in our school--keeping halls and lockers clean, reducing congestion i n the lunch-room line, disposing of gum properly, etc. The school benefited b y adding several hundred dollars to its general activity fund when the Student Council sponsored the selling o f magazine subscriptions. The school retained from thirty to fifty per cent of the money received. We can take our hats off to the 1945-46 Student Council, and truly say that it was one of the best I —6—

OFFICERS FIRST SEMESTER SECOND SEMESTER President Vice-President Secretary- Treasurer Walter Kollmorgen Georgene Smidt Alice Hasenkamp Bernard Fisher Merlin Erickson Bernard Lambrecht 'Walter Kollmorgen Dorothy Bleckwehl This was an eventful and a busy year in the lives of the forty-seven members of the senior class, who ended their hi i school days at the Commencement Program held on May 23, 1946. The class chose as its motto, Before us lies the timber; let us build. The class colors were silver and blue; and the class flower was the American rose. The senior class play, Here Comes Charlie was presented o n M a y 2. The success of the play was award enough for the effort the cast put forth in preparing this play. Although the seniors studied hard t o get that diploma, they took time out for picnics, parties, and other social gatherings. The class held its first picnic at Dead Timber in the early part of the school year. In December, the seniors had a good time at a Christmas party which was held in the music room. The seniors held their last class party in March. Everyone had a good time playing various games, devoting the major p a r t of the evening to playing hearts. It was hard to believe that four years have passed so quickly and that this was the last time that they gathered for a party as members of the senior class. Two senior girls, Dorothy Bleckwehl and Rita Meister, were cheerleaders. Georgene Smidt and Elaine Predoehl were the only two seniors who took part in declam. Twelve seniors took the Regents 1 exams, and the entire West Pointer Staff consisted of seniors. On their sneak day. May 1C, the seniors went to Omaha. Although the day flew rapidly, they visited Boys’ Town, the WOW Building, and the Joslyn Memorial. They had breakfast at the Jack and Jill Coffee Shop and lunch at the Top Hat. All in all, t’was a day to be remembered. Throughout the year of ’45 and ’46, the seniors' names were prominent on the honor roll, in school organizations and other activities.
