Ioyce Knight, Louise DeCenso, Mary Gillette, Vi Ridgley, Isabell Ritzenthaler, Shirley Peebles, Clara Cummins, Art Carlisle, Peggy Strasser, Harriet Besst, Emily Adams, Naomi Buckshot, and Buryl Felton handled CLERICAL ADMINISTRATION the various clerical jobs. They filed student information, checked students in and out of school, recorded grades, arranged appointments, typed recommendations, kept class sizes - all to keep pupil accounting running smooth- ly. HEALTH CENTER West's casualties, major and minor, all passed through the door of Mrs. Laura Scofield's office. Students who felt ill were either permitted to go home or to rest on one of the beds in the nurse's office. All manner of aches and pains resulting from a rough game in P.E., falling down the stairs, or just tripping over feet were treated by her. In addition to the daily illness, Mrs. Scofield processed phy sicals, reported disabilities, tested hearing and vision and handled all P.E. excuses. Throughout the year, Mrs Scofield's presence assured students that there would always be someone interested in their health at West

BCCJKSTDRE Mrs. Clara Tanner and Mrs. Annalee Moore managed West's bookstore, which offered everything from five cent erasers to ten dollar books. Mountains of school supplies went from the bookstore to the students: books, pencils, paper, lockers, rentals and fees for special classes, and numerous small - but necessary - materials. When the bookstore wasn't open to students, Mrs. Tanner and Mrs. Moore handled club requisitions, school insurance, caps and gowns for seniors, and financial records for all clubs. CAFETERIA West's workers in white, Cleft to rightl Elizabeth Kraus, Carmon Brotherton, Doris Edwards, Iune Nancarrow, Ar- line Baril, Edith Brown, Ioyce Hogan, Felicine LeClaire, arole Green, Rachel Kusche, Georgia Butler, Elizabeth allas, Pauline McDowell, Kenneth Sheffield, Bernice Stonfield, Rose Marie Phelps, and lane Potter, CAnn Dona- ue and Winnie Unger not pictured? prepared and served eals for West's students every school day throughout the year. Flexible scheduling led to more work for all - more food to buy and prepare, more students to plan for. A new snack bar line inside the cafeteria helped speed up all the snack bar activities and also prevented some damp students on rainy days. Despite the heavy load, the hard- working cafeteria staff, directed by Mrs. Ann Donahue, kept West's cafeteria running smoothly. ADMINISTRATION 23
