Disciplinary problems filling only half their busy year, Miss Ieanne Bailey and Mr. Ierome Siegel spent much of their time coordinating West's varied extra-curricular activities. As Administrative Assistant for Girls, Miss Bailey was primarily concerned with the coordination of the total activity program at West. She commented on the effects of the Flexible Scheduling: Our new program has resulted in more freedom for the students and this has made it necessary for each one to accept more individual responsibility. Now that we have had one year to function with- in the framework of our new program, all students should have a greater awareness of the advantages offered by the program and in the future make greater use of the opportunities available to them. Mr. Siegel, Administrative Assistant for Boys, coordinated West's activity program in addition to aiding students with discipline and attendance prob- lems. Mr. Siegel stated his faith in the West High Student: In completing my second year at West High, I have noticed a developing awareness, on the part of the vast maiority of students. of their responsibilities towards their school, peers, and activity participa- tion. Mr. C.W. ASSO PRINCIPAL Responsible for all non-academic func- tions of the school, Associate Principal C. W. Roland supervis school budget, custodial services, school improvements, and the business functions of the school. Mr. Roland was also indirect- ly responsible for West's athletic program and activities pro- gram. Mr. Roland has been deeply involved in the planning and establishment of Flexible Scheduling at West. After observing the system during its first year of operation, Mr. Roland addressed the students: The school year l busy one with its ments and accomplishments. I want to congratulate the student body on their ability to adjust to changing con- ditions and to wish the class of '67 the best of everything on their activities after high school.
