The student court, commonly known as the Tribunal, meets every morning to pre- scribe punishment for any student violating the rules set by the school constitution. It also has the power, with the consent of the director of student activities, to impeach student officers. Although complicated legal procedures are not employed, the de- fendant receives a fair and just trial. All decisions must be agreed upon by a two- thirds vote of the staff. Consisting of six members-two twelve A's and four twelve B's-one of whom is the Chief Justice, Beverlee BC.l1'lI'1.'lIT1 the Tribunal helps make NVestern .1 safe and orderly school. One of the divisions of the executive branch of the XVest Philadelphia High School Citizens Association is the Attorney General Staff. Working in connection with the Tribunal and the Patrol System, this staff interviews all offenders reported by student patrols, reviews their cases, and brings out all facts, for and against, in order that the students may have a chance to defend themselves. Should a student plead not guilty, a trial is arranged. It is then the role of this or- ganization to provide defense and prosecut- ing attorneys to assure the defendant of a fair trial.
