0 I- INA 0-CN K TRIBUNAL Top Row: Guss, Kominars, Dansky. Front Row: Lowenfc-ls, Korn, August, Rose, Fischer. This term the Tribunal has endeavored to institute a new and different type of court. Its purpose is to deal with students who deliberately or through ignorance disobey school regulations. The organization is the same as in former terms, being composed of two 12B boys, two 12B girls, and one boy and one girl from l2A. They are elected by the Board of Directors, and they themselves elect a chairman, who, this term, is Harriet August. A prosecution staff under Attorney General Helen Korn, inves- tigates each case. By close coordination with the Patrol System, the Tribunal has greatly improved the school lunchrooms and corridors. Also, by revising the codification, which is a list of punishments prescribed for offenses, it has led the student body to feel that the Tribunal is interested in correcting cases and not merely in punishment. The Tribunal wishes to persuade students to do the right thing because it is right rather than because the offender will incur heavy punish- ment if he doesn't. Carefully kept records have proved this idea successful. Many laws have also been proposed in the Senate by the Tribunal that would clarify the student's rights. Many such have been passed. All together this judicial body has tried to be as effl- cient and impartial as possible and can look back on this term as a job well done. lHlHlH MXSHES UH lHllllH DAYS

The Chairman this term, chosen from the 12B class, is Stanley Laderman, the Secretary, chosen from the 12A's, Sidel Kirson, and a new office, introduced just this term, that of vice-chairman, is held by Ioel Rubin. It is the duty of the chairman to preside at the meet- ings and to act as a member ofthe Board of Directors. The Senate sponsors and aids many of our school drives, which this term included Tag Day, cleaner lunchrooms, and the Victory Corps campaigns. Since the Senate is able to maintain intimate contacts with the groups and the individual students, it. more than any other student body, has a direct effect upon the welfare of the entire school. This term's Senate has been an impartial and conscientious group and their success is well deserved. Wil HHH lllt SEHUM
