W.xL.'i'ER Ronmrs, Principal TO THE MEMBERS OF 'THE CLASS OF WIUXE, IVE? The Seven Vnlonders of the Wcmrld were the tullillment of the visions of men who saw their dreams take form, in part at least. For generations eaeh of these wonders has symliolized size or strength or permanence or heauty or the emhodiment of their hlending. They represent accomplishment. As a contrast men have struggled with the Seven Follies of Science and met the defeat which, we might say, was foreordained. An apparent glimpse of suecess spurred them on in their elliorts to triumph. only to meet with frustration. Wlieii we think of the Seven Follies of Science we think ol failure, although out of what was failure to the individual much ot oui scienee has developed. Although men may struggle with equal ardour and holdness. some may seein to win and some may seem to lose. The vision may he a wonder or it may he a folly. hut out of either may finally come much that is worth while. It is good to have a vision and the enthusiasm to seek its consummation. lvlay eaeh of you have a vision and may success attend you all. VUALTER ROBERTS. r .1 fs . if JLfiQ'ff7 .I if

STELLA C. CULLEN Assistant to Principal S -Lgggc. Q' , Q ...Q,Q1:.X TO THE CLASS OF IUNE, zrmf Behind every wonderful creation there must he imagination -the power to vision heautiful form or to perfect mechanism. Productive imagination springs from true appreciation. Whzttever we admire, no matter where we see it, no matter whose it is, we value for its perfection or the satisfaction it hrings to us. The particular oh-iect of our awe may he the property of a state or the cherished possession of an individual. We respect their proprietorship, recognize their rights as owners, and rejoice that through them heautiful things have heen created and preserved. lt is only hy such an attitude of appreciation, where no envy or greed has dulled or destroyed our sense ol value, that lovely things mellow and come down to us through the ages, enriching us and adding to the worlds treasure. STELLA C. CULLEN
