PARTRIDGE HEAD OF THE SCIENCE DEPARTMENT VY, , TO THE MEMoRv or 1912-1934 DIED MARCH 22, 1934 We the class of June, 1934, in dedicating our book to DOCTOR PARTRIDGE, find difficulty in putting our feelings into words capable of expressing our appreciation, not merely of the scientist, nor of the teacher, but of the man. We do not wish to occupy this space with a mere account of the worldly exploits of the scientist, the material achievements of the teacher, but rather to recall the understanding nature of the man. We believe that even from afar, one could understand to a degree how rare a type of humanity was our Doctor Partridge. ln appreciation of a man whose highest virtue was, what in lack of o more expressive word, we must describe os humanness, we lovingly dedicate this, our class Record. FOR twenty-two years this edifice, the first of its kind to be built in the city on the academic or collegiate school Gothic style, has observed the vast panorama of a new era. Since its official opening in l9l2 the placid countryside of brooks and woodland farms has been engulfed in the city proper by apartment dwellings and the turmoil of traffic. lt began as a nan-coeducational institution with Mr. Parke Schoch heading the girls' school and Mr. William Sayre, the boys'. boys'. Mr. C. C. Heyl, replacing Dr. Sayre, who resigned in l9l2, conducted, in 1926, the great experiment of welding the two schools into one large coeducational institution. Upon Mr. Heyl's death in 1930, Mr. Walter Roberts, former head of Mathematics, was appointed to the principalship which he has held with eminent success.
