ln this age of intellectual, scientitic, moral, and re- ligious unrest. there is urgent need for leaders capable and willing to direct. guide. and inspire or encourage the youth of the country. Our world of 1958 is in such a state of unrest and confusion. hilt our leadersfselected and chosen lay the Spirit of God'--till us with courage to follow their directives. The Most Reverend .Xrchhishop john I . U'Hara. L'.S.L'.. IJ.IJ.. is detlnitely the choice of the Holy Spirit. Varied and extensive have been his experiences even before his coming to llhiladelphia. In the tleld of edu- cation. his experience reached from the teacher in the classroom to president of the university: in the .Xrmed Forces from chaplain to Military Leader. ,Xlways the priest. always the religiousf Coming to Philaclelphia from Buffalo. he immediately Defender HIS EXCELLENCY THE MOST REVEREND JOHN FRANCIS O'HARA C.S.C., D.D. Archbishop of Philadelphia inaugurated an extensive building program. Parishes were organized. schools. high schools, colleges. and in- stitutions were established to care for the youth whether physically well, retarded or handicapped in mind or body. The progress and growth throughout the archdiocese may he traced not only in the tield of education hut in ill titlds of Catholic Action, The Vatholic Press, the t , t athohc Vharities. organizations lo handle social proh- lems. are only some of the many which hear the imprint ol the thrist-like leader of this archdiocese.
