CEBRA MR ,fy v:iX L n D GESILIETRY IIUVII X15 :Pl AN1li:lllx Ulu HE June issue of The Gleanf' is not a record book for Seniors only. It is a book which not only records the events of the year but also portrays, in so far as that is possible. the spirit of the school. The spirit of W'est Philadelphia Catholic Girls' High School is Catholic. Instruction and relaxation under the aegis of our school have their rise in Catholic principles. Ours is. then. truly Christian education. Because of that fact. we Clo not feel presumptuous in presenting the work of our school as a living commentary on the Encyclical. Christian Education of Youth. of Pius Xl. 1 ff. Monsignor Bonner is evi- dently enjoying Doctor Cox,s happily chosen words. WHAT GREATER WUHK is there than training the mind and forming the habits of the young? The Reverend joseph Gorham, Assistant Super- intendent of Schools, hears, perhaps, final arrangements for the Navy Day parade which followed the Alumnae festivity. Not the least outstanding feature of the parade was the Catholic High Schools' floats and bands. W'e've never had a finer valedictoryf' This compliment from the Reverend joseph Cox, Assistant Superintendent of Schools is saying it with flowers to M. Murray, writer. E. Higgins, who delivered Mary's masterpiece, also shares the congratulations. .: .?i11 l ib The Right Reverend Monsignor john J.
