Roman Reminiscences might be the title of this picture, since Doctor Geo. johnson of Catholic University, His Excellency Archbishop Spellman of New York, and Monsignor Bonner are alumni of the Roman College. Here he is pictured with Doctor Cox the night of the great Catholic meeting in Convention Hall . at which occasion the combined orchestras played. For the last time these Seniors are receiving Holy Com- munion from Doctor Cox. The 1942 Senior Year was marked by an extraordinarily beautiful Holy Wleek be- cause of the retreat given by Doctor Cox to the Seniors. Two years ago junior Wfeek became junior Day with every minute of the day crowded with opportunities for the juniors to show their superiority. Here Margaret Decker and Alice Larkin are telling Doctor Gorham of their plans. Many though his duties as Assistant Superintendent are, Doctor Gorham now and then honors West Catholic with his presence. IVIcDevitt, then Super' intcndent of schools, established the first central Catholic Girls' High School, there was much conjecture as to its success. Never hefore had Sisters of different Communities been asked to teach in one school. People of broad vision and high idealism felt that lvlonsignor McDex'itt's project was not only pioneering hut extraordinary progressiveness. Today, there are three other girls' high schools in Philadelphia hesides the original Catholic Girls' High School, now Hallahan. Some of the linest schools outside of this city have adopted the Philadelphia method. Doctors, lawyers, chemists, secretaries, typists, nurses, technicians. drcssmakcrs, designers, artists, Sisters, housewives, mothers--no roll call of achievement in livelihoods and character is complete withvut the names of graduates of these schools. Our school followed Hallaf hairs plan of many Communities. so that. today. seven groups of Sisters reach here. All homeroom Advisers teach Religion based on the radio broadcast. The Sisters who broadcast are Sister Theona, O.S.F., who instructs Seniors in Apologeticsg Sister Margaret, S.C.C., who teaches a course in Church History to juniorsg Sister Antonina, I.H.M. who 7 explains to Sophomores the value of the Mass.
