.sznior gfada cihafory On September 8, 1955, the doors of West Paris High opened to 18 freshmen. They were: Edna Abbott, Alice Hertell, Mary Ann Perham, Joanne Hawkins, Nancy McDougall, Jean Farrar, Rodney Abbott, Elaine Penley, Sheila Heath, Judith Mayblom, Wayne Ross, Herbert Ryerson, Herbert Estes, Eugene Lynch, Gary Goodwin, Douglas Conant, Leigh Dean, and Richard Herrick. Our first class meeting was held on September 27, and the following officers were elected: President .........,...,... ..,...,.... R odney Abbott Vice-President ......,. ..,.............. E laine Penley Secretary ......,...................,..,............ ........ M ary Ann Perham Treasurer -.-- ......,..............,..,........,.... ..,.,..,....., S heila Heath Student Council Representative. ............................... Jean Farrar September 30 found us bowing down to the seniors, which, of course, was a must at the freshman initiation. In December we were working hard earning class funds. We made and sold wreaths, had food sales, and the usual recess sandwich sales. April was our next month for earning money, and we sponsored two roller skating parties, held food sales, and sold sandwiches at recess. In the fall of 1956 we entered West Paris High as sophomores. Our number had decreased to only ll. Sheila Heath, Elaine Penley, Rodney Abbott, Mary Ann Perham, Gary Goodwin, Eugene Lynch, Richard Herrick, Sylvia Kilponen, Jeanne Hawkins, Alice Hertell, and Herbert Estes were now higher classmen. e elected the following officers: President ............... I .......... ......... R odney Abbott Vice-President ........ ............... G ary Goodwin Secretary .....,....,............................... ........ M ary Ann Perham Treasurer ............................................ .............. E laine Penley Student Council Representative. ............................. Sheila Heath November was our month for the usual money-making schemes and we tried to make the best of it. We voted to sponsor food sales, and to have the usual sandwich sales at recess. Both boys and girls were represented in sports. Gary Goodwin and Eugene Lynch enjoyed these opportunities while Mary Ann Perham, Elaine Penley and Joanne Hawkins were the feminine athletes. In March we were once more at work building up our funds for the class trip. This month we added a beano game to our list, which proved to be a very successful money-making project. In the fall of 1957, ten excited juniors returned, glad to be classed finally as real upper classmen. We had in our midst, Sheila Heath, Elaine Penley, Rodney Abbott, Mary Ann Perham, Joanne Hawkins, Alice Hertell, Eugene Lynch, Gary Goodwin, Herbert Estes, and Sylvia Kilponen. We once again held class elections with the following results. President .............. .... ....... - .............. R od ney Abbott Vice-President ................................ ........ M ary Ann Perham Secretary ............................................. ............. E laine Penley Student Council Representative ............................. Sheila Heath In October we were once more laboring to earn funds for our senior year and the class tri . Since our beano game the year before was successful, we decided to try our slgill at it again. This game also turned out very successful. Each stu- dent chipped in to help secure prizes. We also sponsored a roller-skating party, and sold sandwiches at recess. In the spring we honored the seniors with the Junior-Senior Banquet at the Universalist Church. 16
