GIRLS, STATE West lVlen'1phis's delegates to Girls, and Boys, State were sponsored by the American Auxiliary and tl1e American Legion, respectively. The groups met the first two weeks in June fthe boys, the first weekg the girls, the second weekj at Camp Robinson near Little Rock. They learned the way our government functions by setting up one of their own, complete with a legislature, a governor, and other executives. Good Citizenn Robert Crittenden Chapter SUZANNE BARFIELD The 4'Cood Citizen Girlf' sponsored by the Daughters of the American Rev- olution, is chosen by the senior class and the faculty on the basis of char- acter, leadership, service, and patrio- tism. It is one of the highest honors a senior girl can win. Winner of Voice of Democracy Contest JAMES PRICE The Voice of Democracy is spon- sored annually by the West Memphis Jaycees. Every Junior and Senior Eng- lish and Speech student was required to enter the Essay Contest. Miss Hill and Mrs. Claiborne served as prelimi- nary judges until the contest was nar- rowed down to four finalists, who were Linda Shoemaker, Maryanna Lewis, Martha Ann Bagwell, and win- ner, James Price. Martha Anne was runner-up. The finalists were judged by a board of judges from West Memphis.
