An thing ou can do The year 1973 proved that women can be equal to men. Billy lean King, however, the women's tennis champion proved that women are sometimes superior to men. She beat her challenger, Bobby Riggs, in a very controversial match. The nesters turned in a record of 4-3, including two wins over Muscatine. The team also beat Assumption and Alleman. The team was led by seniors Tom Arnold and Bob Petrucelli. Also, playing a major role was senior Russ Cook. The boys tennis team completed the fall season under new coach George Varchola. Top players on the team were, Cheryl Vhynak, Debbie Freeman, Stephanie Bohnsack, MaryAnn Pash, Nancy Williams, Sharon Ahrens, and Kathy Vogt. These players appear on an ability ladder, respectively from one to seven. When asked what their outlook for spring is, coach Vir- ginia Lohmiller responded, With good conditioning and mental readiness, we should be a stronger team.
