Coach johnson feels that the rain spoiled the season. g With volleyballyrdoyiieinrgf into the fall spectrum, state was cancelled for lack of participants. This was disappointingfor the girls wanted to take state three years ina row. Coach johnson's star players for this year are seniors Lou Ann Cassidy, Lura Lee Cassidy, Chris Paulson, Cindy Taylor, Barb Smith, Sue Craig, and Denise Reins. The sticksters first win of the season was over East Moline, 1-0. They also defeated Galesburg, 1-0, however, Galesburg defeated the Falcons in their last game, 0-'I. An thing ou can do The year 1973 proved that women can be equal to men. Billy lean King, however, the women's tennis champion proved that women are sometimes superior to men. She beat her challenger, Bobby Riggs, in a very controversial match. The nesters turned in a record of 4-3, including two wins over Muscatine. The team also beat Assumption and Alleman. The team was led by seniors Tom Arnold and Bob Petrucelli. Also, playing a major role was senior Russ Cook. The boys tennis team completed the fall season under new coach George Varchola.
