CHORUS Anyone who enjoys singing finds he may choose from a wide var iety of groups in the West High choral department. Once the def cision has been made, all that is left are the tryouts held at the end of the year. The time is made apparent by the pale faces and glazed eyes of the hopeful singers awaiting their turns. The posting oi audition results is followed by squeals of I made it! I made itl, and How did I get it? Even though John Smith didnit quite make Girls' Glee, and Sally Sophomore is crushed for not being admitted to Junior Choir, the general atmosphere is one of surprise and re- lief. In the Fall begins the real work. Under the direction of James Maher, the groups buckle down to the task of rehearsing for school assemblies and parent- teacher performances. The day before Thanksgiving vacation a musical treat was presented by the entire music department, including the band and orchestra, as well as the choruses. From Girls, Glee to Junior Choir the choral groups pro- vide for all musical tastes and voices from bass to soprano, from alto to tenor.
