Hobert, Pres.; J. Wong. Vice Pres.; M. Herberger. Sec.; D. Swanson. Treasurer. VALEDICTORIANS AND SALUTATORIANS Sootod: £ Holmbcfg, C. Nalion. A. Gandain, J. Mayor Standing: J. Wong. E. Sortland. G. Irvine. R Krogh. J. C'oajon. All of us in the Senior Class will never forget this, our last year at West. We were ably guided in our many activities by Bob Hobert, our President; Jeanne Wong, Vice President; Mary Herberger, Secretary, and Don Swanson, Treasurer. Through their combined efforts we progressed toward a successful graduation. One of the outstanding features of our class was the number of honor students we had. Our Valedictorians — Robert Krogh, John Meyer, Alvan Gendein, John Claeson, and Edward Holmberg, our Salutatorians—Gloria Irvine, Carole Nelson, and Eunice Sortland were not only scholastically minded but participants in most of the various activities of the School. We must not forget Jeanne Wong, who would have been Valedictorian if she had attended West for all of her three years. 14 A few years from now, when we once again look through this Hesperian, we will remember the fun we had at Homecomings, our class play, where the ham in all of our personalities showed up, and the football and basketball games where we yelled our lungs out. For the past three years it seems, to us, the class of 1953. that the halls of West High have been wearing a broad happy grin from one door to the other which leaves some trace of its imprint on each and every one of us. We sincerely hope that all future classes of West High will find as many friendships and memorable experiences within these halls as we seniors have had in our very short three years. The team lost the first two games to Central and North. The next four contests found the Cowboys riding high with four victories, reaching their peak in the South game. Lady Luck turned her favors from the Cowboys in the last game of the season, as they outplayed Henry, but lost. Special mention should be given to Bob Hobert who was voted All-City Tackle and the Most Valuable Lineman of the year. SCORES West 6 ...
