ADMINISTRATION 1jou i eacltenA JOHN MORRIS . . . Assistant Principal • Like the intricate Control Center of the Civilian Defense Corps, the different departments of the office force have specific duties to perform. In addition to their important advisory work, they have become coordinators between the students and the Victory Corps, the Army, Navy, and Marines. The Counselling Department works with the Student Council in Red Cross, Community Fund. Blood Donorship, Defense Stamp, and all other drives. The office force as a whole cooperates with draft boards and N. Y. A. All of this additional work has widened in scope because of the needs of the government in war time. High school graduates who have the ability to pass special tests are being offered unusual opportunities. There are the V-5 naval aviation training, and the V-12 army and navy officer training courses: also the officer training in the U. S. Marine Corps. ■ MRS. MALVA LOCKWOOD . . . MR. HILDING O. JOHNSON . . . American History and Civics COMMUNICATION OF IDEAS • United States history and English are especially important in war time. As we study the 165 years of our nation's life we find it a continuing fight for the four freedoms. Our literature dramatizes this great story in stirring addresses. novels, plays, essays, and poetry. Speech and creative writing classes train the student to express his ideas clearly and effectively, and it is for this same freedom of expression in writing and speech that American men are fighting in all parts of the world today. They are upholding the glorious traditions of our American history and free education. • Top Left Picture: MISS ALICE KEAN . . . English and Blue Tri; MISS RUTH H. HILL . . .
