VIRGINIA CARLISLE Second Semester Head Girl 0 Friendship's House is built of gold: Its doors are open wide. Love, trust, and happiness are ever found inside. It's in the City of the Heart, Where the sun shines all year through. For Friendship's House is built of gold By school friends such as you. GENE THOMAS Second Semester Head Boy 0 The outstanding thing that I have no- ticed about West, during the past three years, has been the school spirit. I like the friendly attitude which our students hold toward their fellow classmates. Allow me to express my appreciation to each and every one for his splendid cooperation in making West the friend- liest school in town.

RUTH WAITE First Semester Head Girl 0 Well, cowpokes, we're on the top at last! We've run, or walked, or stumbled, as the case may be. Many of us are ready to start to col- lege: others have jobs to which they put their shoulders: while some just stand hesitating as to their future steps. No one knows who of us will ride the crest of the next wave or be submerged. At any rate, it's been a genuine pleasure to work with you, and I only wish we had more years to spend together. STANLEY JOHNSON First Semester Head Boy 0 To all those concerned, including my- self, it has been a genuine privilege to see, appreciate, and assist in developing the friendly, family, attitude of social and personal relationships which have earned a blue-ribbon climax for the first semester, 1938-1939, here in West High School.
