14, 1955-Friday beat West by only two points. Jazz-nary 18, 1955-Tncstiay We beat Lipscomb! Butch scored 17 points, Buddy IS, and Greer 16. West played a great game! Tickets are still on sale for the mid-term dance. January 21, 1955-Friday Exams! Tonight we played Ryan and beat them. .llI711lC1I'y 25, 1955-Tuesday Vlfow, what a game! We played Hillsboro and beat them by a narrow margin. Juli-nary 26, 1955-!fVcdnc.rday The Mid-term dance was thc social event of the even- ing. The theme was, Foot Loose and Fancy Free, with David lE!rod's band, Joyce Paul being the vocalist. lt was a swell dance and an excellent way to celebrate the ending of exams! January 26, 1955-Tlzursday Everyone returned to school for the fatal CARD today. Mrs. Alder was honored and presented a token of the sehoo!'s appreciation for her 30 years of outstanding service in speech, helping those unable to express them- selves, in establishing their place in lile. We all regret her having to leave and we will miss her very much. No one can match or ever equal the wonderful spirit and work of Mrs. Alder. jan-nary 28, 1955-Friday ' We beat East tonight by live points. Butch was the outstanding player for the Bluejays. Fclirnary 1, 1955-Tuesday VVest lost its fourth game tonight against Cohn. licbrzfary 4, 1955-Friday We lost our Fifth game tonight to M.B.A. Too bad! February 1, 1955-Tuesday Today through Friday Civil Defense bracelets and necklaces will be on sale. February 5, 1955-Saturday Mary Grace Murlt represented West in the ann-ual beauty pageant at Isaac Litton and of course, being very beautiful she came in first! We are all very, very proud of her. Fflzruary 8, 19.55-Tuesday We won over Springfield tonight! C54 to 40.1 lfVc.sI I-Vind drive is on during this week. February 10, 1955-Tlzursday l1 'f'xt Wind presents skit on the theme of Dragnet with talent involved. Joel Feigenbaum did a great job of master of ceremonies as Joe Friday. li'cln'u1u'y 11, 1955-Friday West beat North. licbruary 14, 1955-Monday Valentine's day- Seniors ordered invitations today! Fvbrzmry 15, 1955-'I'ue.rday West beat T.P.S. in an easy victory. lieln'-nary 17, 1955-Tlizucrday West's Debate Team composed of Charles Bonney, Anita Gossett, George Stern and Shirley Zeitlin, won live out of six debates at a County Regional meet. Great going kids. Fvlzruary 18, 1955-Friday -Pictures are being made today for the annual. VVest played Peabody overconhdcntly tonight and was upset in a low scoring game. This was truly a surprise and a bolt to the Bluejays, but we are ready for the tourna- ments next week. 1:tf!7l'llG1'-Y 21, 1955-Monday N.F.L. meet tonight and we are now tied with East High for the trophy. Plans for the tournaments begin today after school for we play our first game Thursday. Ifrbrnary 14, 1955-Tliursday Spirit is excelling, for never has any student body been so keyed up, and it is wonderful! We learned to- night how the other teams felt last year when the Blue- jays tore down hopes speeding forth to victory. Ryan beat us by one point. March 1, 1955-Tuesday Contestants for the Civitan Talent show tried out to- day in the auditorium. Sandra Hethcote came out on top, placing hrst and she will well represent West. March 4, 1955-Friday Janice Setters was announced as D.A.R. Medalist to- day and Butch Stephens as Civitan receiver. March 7, 1955-Monday Student Council today. Seating by rows in tl1e audi- torium was enforced. March 8, 1955-Tuesday Nominations were made in the home rooms for the candidates for Miss West High. Nita Jordan, Charlotte Beasley, Shirley Crowell, and Janice Setters were nominated. .llarclz 9, 1955-Wednesday Career Day blanks were filled out today. Clubs also met at third period. The Dramatic Club under Mr. Geheris' direction plans to present a play this spring. March 10, 1955-Thwrsday The Student Body elected Miss VVest High who was Shirley Crowell, a very deserving girl. She is West's greatest girl asset. March 14, 1955-Moizday Student Council meeting. The Personality Club held a fashion show in the auditorium, sponsored by Leon's Clothing Store. March 15, 1955-Tuesday The packages of class pictures were sold at 4th and Sth periods in the W est Wind oliice. Rev. John Rustin spoke in the auditorium about Life in the World of Tomorrow. Grand Speech! March 16, 1955-Wed!!-crday Clubs! The Dramatic Club announced that the play R. U. R. will be presented this spring and it will cast about 40 people. March. 23, 1955-Wednesday Today was Career Day, sponsored by Student Council and the Key Club. Speakers from all professions came to school and told about their careers. It was really in- teresting and everyone learned a lot. April 23, 1955-Satwday The Junior-Senior Prom is tonight! It'll be in the cafeteria and the Junior class really made the place look beautiful. It's hard to believe that just yesterday we were eating lunch there and now it's been converted into a wonderland. May 19, 1955-Thursday One week 'til exams! Everybody is walking around with his nose in a book and the cramming for those big tests has really started. May 26-Thursday The day of doom has arrived! There were moans heard from the end of the hall: I don't know a thing about this chemistry! As the bell rang, the school was covered by a cloak of silence and everyone settled down to the serious business of taking exams. May 30, 1955-Monday Exams are overlllll Gee, what a relief that they're all over and done with. Y!!-znow, it really doesn't seem like exams are so bad, now that they're Finished. June 1, 1955-Wednesday The big day has Finally arrived!! The Seniors have been working toward this goal for twelve long years tsome even longerb and now that it has come, they look forward to it with mixed emotions. Along with their pride of accomplishment, some sadness, because they'rc leaving their beloved Vlfest and will separate from their high school friends, can be seen in all the Seniors' eyes as they lift them toward the future, toward unknown horizons. June 2, 1955-Tlzursday Wie went back today for our cards and to get our annuals. Golly, the year seems to have flown by, but it's really been a great one!!!
