rerienfafion In the planning and editing of this ZEPHYR, We tried to keep in mind this ques- tion-Will it be enjoyable in ten or even twenty years from now, and will it bring back memories of one of the most wonderful and outstanding years in the history of West? Believe us, this is a real problem. First, we made the unanimous choice to dedicate the book to "Doc," and we're sure, from the many comments we've heard, that he would have been your selection also. Then, because we believed that many memories of him would be associated with memories of this year, We decided to carry the theme throughout of "Doc's view of the school." Pictures, more than words, make certain people and events unforgettable. XVe've tried to have as many as possible, and we want to thank the photographers and everyone else who has helped us with them. To one who has never worked on a paper or annual, it is difficult to explain all the detailed, and often tedious, work connected with it. We can never fully express our gratitude to each person who did a part on this book-typing, running errands, getting ads, and the million and one last-minute tasks-and to the faculty we would like to express our appreciation for being so patient with us. We've enjoyed editing this yearbook, and we'll always remember Miss Lamb, without whom we could never have finished it. She was constantly available to help and to encourage us. There's no one with whom we would rather have worked. This is your Zephyr-we hope you will never forgetthis year. THE EDITORS
