Masque and Gavel, a national honor society in Speech Arts, serves as an instrument to widen the achievement horizon of high school students. Through association and cooperation with members of this talented honor group, students have an opportunity to obtain a mature attitude more quickly than most df his fellow students. The objectives of this Masque and Gavel are three fold: 1. To recognize and promote significant student achievement in any area of speech in high school. 2. To assist the student in raising his own standards of speech in all forms of oral expression. 3. To sponsor a better relationship between the high school and its community by participation in community activity. The West End chapter is proud to announce eight initiates who were installed at a formal candlelight banquet in December: This ceremony, in itself, serves as an inspiration to students to give of their best on all occasions.
