Our IIUPLIS ten I think of the beautiful town Often in thought go up and down The pleasant streets of that dear old town And my youth comes back to me From the windows of the huge brick building of our School Town every resident has had the oppor tunlty to view an extremely impressive sight the eighteen acre campus of West Bend High School l1v ing vividly in the memories of evervone who has walked its paths From these windows come the sound of type writers clattermg in the commercial rooms the referee s whistle echoing in the gym the band playing at a pep meeting and young voices raised in song echoing over the spacious colorful campus revealing the life and activity of the students Much that 1S pleasant and relaxing surrounds the campus of School Town In the tall elm and oak trees on the northwest portion tr1ll the songs of birds The cooling shade of the trees offers comfort during warm weather When winter arrives the sounds change to the voices of students gliding over the ice on the pond filling the air mth jOV18l1tV Across the load adjacent to the school is a slop ing bank also covered with stately elm trees Here in warm weather the voices of teen agers can be heard noon hours and after school Here with laughter and gravity they discuss the happenings of the day 'lhe athletic fields to the south comprise half of the campus From Bruhy Field come the cheers of the crowd as the football team accepts challenges on the gridiron as the thmclads attempt to break track and field records From the baseball diamonds come the shouts of gym classes learning good sports manship Many a tense moment has been spent in these areas of the campus Every challenge instilled in us the ideal of fair play In the southeast corner the tennis courts are filled with voices and the thud of rackets and balls meeting The courts used not only by the varsity teams are filled at noon hours evenings and week ends with amateur tennis enthusiasts To many students the most beautiful feature of the campus IS the front view of the building The majestic blue spruce are the pride of School Town As their seasonal dress changes they become more beautiful and picturesque On the evening of graduation as the senior student stands to receive his diploma before him will flash v1s1ons of former days students sitting on the campus dabbing their brushes on canvas others gath ering biological specimens athletes doing calisthen tics practicing and competing v1s1ons which will were long and carefree And the trees that o ershadow each well known street As they balance up and dovxn Are singing the beautiful song Are sighing and whispering still A boys w1ll IS the wmd s w1ll And the thoughts of youth are long long thoughts Longfellow ,ff il.
