Q Having a highly successful season, the Lions of W.H.S. com- piled a fine record of 5 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie on the 1954 gridiron. Captaining the attack upon our opponents were Don Avery, quarterback, and Dave Mitchell, center. Aided by a strong line and a swift loackt1eld, the team out- rushed their toes 1,789 yards to 1,352 yards. Although not in the conference this year, the Lions had wins of 19-13 over Corning Northside, 27-13 over Batavia, and a 6-6 tie with Hornell, who were all in the conference.
