JOHN HENRY LADDERBUSH For Satan finds some mischief still for idle hands to do. Although Jackie can be serious if it is really necessary, he is seldom quiet. His favorite song is 'Jeanie with the Dark Brown Hair. The fact that the class voted him the boy with the nicest personality indicates that he has a good start toward success. How Merton rates can be seen by the fact that he was elected co -captain of football his junior year and captain his senior year. His prowess in this sport won him honorable mention on the ALL-STATE TEAM. Mert is popular with both his teammates and his opponents and gives the basketball crowds a thrill with his set shots from the side. But if you want to see this strong athlete blush just ask him to say a few words in public. Billy is a man--all six feet four inches of him--of few words, but let something displease him and words do not fail him. He toots a big horn in the band and is a steady player on the basketball court. This year he wrested from Danny Cook the three year old record of 'most often tardy. Perhaps you'd better get a horse, Billy. Glge Club 1,2: Football 1,2, 3,4g Basketball 1, 2,3,4g Vice President 2, Band 1,2, 3,4g Operetta lg Baseball 2, 3: Senior Play 4. ELINOR S ANDRA MURPHY 'Sugar and spice and all things nice. Dorchester High's loss in 1955 was Wells High's gain. Sandy is one of the few girls who can throw a softball true: she's an unpopular guard on the basket- ball team--that is, unpopular with the unfortunate forwards who have to play against her. Her grace and ease on the dance floor won her the title of the best dancer in the class. She 's one of the most willing workers among the sen- iors and is a thoughtful and considerate friend. HERBERT RALPH HILL 'A merry heart doeth good like medicine. Ralph is a busy little guy. It's not always school work, but he certainly keeps himself occupied. Many people think that he must spend all his time thinking up just the right remark to make when the occasion arises. On the cross country course he's known as the little man with the big wind, and he is a threat on the basketball floor. His side burns, his hair cut for lack of itj and his boneshaking style of dancing have made him known county-wide as Elvis. 'Best looking' and 'Best dressed'--that's what the class voted David. A look at the library cards also shows him to be the class's most omnivorous reader. Dave was a good Scrambler on the football field, and four years of basketball have made his name and face well known throughout our league. ALFRED PHILIP HYNES What would I do without a woman? Pinky is that good-natured fellow who is usually seen chasing after the girls fwho don't seem to run very fastl. I-le captured three votes in the class super- latives--'Best natured, Best dancer and 'Best all-round personality. He's a terror on the football field and the basketball court, and cracks a mean gavel as our senior class president. With his likeable personality Pinky should go far in his chosen field. Phil, our class comedian, is that energetic boy who can be seen almost anywhere but where he should be. If you hear a loud bang or a crash, you can be sure that Phil is near. No wonder he was voted the 'noisiest boy' in the class. The class certainly wouldn't be the same without him, nor would the cross country, track, or football teams. JAMES BERNARD O'GORMAN, JR. Anything for a quiet life. James is our one and only--our one and only classmate who is planning to become an undertaker. And he has a good reason for his plans--he will thus be assured of a steady job. James never wastes his breath in idle chatter. Any extra breath he has had, he has used for the last four years helping out the Wells School Band. If no student ever caused any more trouble than James does, Wells High would be a teachers' paradise. Band 1, 2, 3, 45 Yearbook Staff 4. RONALD HAROLD PHILLIPS Without humor, life would be dreary. And without our buddy Babe our class would not have been half so lively, as we found out all those weeks during our junior year when Babe was on vaca- tion. He was a big name on Wells' track team, especially in pole vaulting, high jumping and hurdling. His big name in class is that of the wittiest. His quick smile and dry remarks have made him a favorite in class, especially with one of our classmates who lives in Wells Branch. Track 1,25 Baseball 25 Track Manager 45 Yearbook Staff 45 Football 2, 35 Senior Play 4. ALLAN GEORGE PINKHAM 'Work is the key to success. Allan has faithfully haunted the typing room for the past two years, and it would not be the same without him. We never see Allan ruffled or downcast, and his cheerful smile and pleasant personality are assets to our classroom. Good luck in the future, Allan. Basketball Manager 45 Yearbook Staff 45 transferred from Waterville High School in 1956. DANA MERRILL PUTNAM Toujours gai. The seniors have been fortunate this year to have Dana to add that little extra bit to our class. No one has ever seen Dana without a twinkle in his eye and a pleasant expression. It's lucky that Dana is good-natured, for otherwise he'd take a few pokes back at some of his classmates who love to tease him. We'd like to know the secret of his success, not only with his own classmates, but with underclassmen--or should we say underc1asswomen.
