FOOTBALL The Wellington Eagles started their six-man football season of 191.8 in a manner to which they had been unaccustomed in the last two years. After two weeks of hard work-outs the Eagles had a practice game with the Pierce Panthers. The ga.me proved to be a great upset, the Eagles losing 34-14. The next game found the Eagles back in their usual form. They journeyed to Waverly, there to trounce the Mustangs 27-13 in a thrilling encounter. The next trip was to Berthoud and the Eagles knocked them off in fine style, the score being 37- 23. The Eagles next had a practice game with Hudson, surprising themselves by romping over the Cowboys Al.-O. The Mustangs and Eagles collided on the 1atter's home field. Wellington came out on top 19-6. The second game with Berthoud was played in a high wind. After trailing the Spartans 12-6 at half-time, the Eagles came back to tie the score at 12-all. The last game of the season for the Eagles was the quarter- finals of the State Play-offs. Wellington was matched with Pierce, the game being played at Ault. The Eagles fell at the hands of the Panthers 32-6. The Panthers, the only team to defeat the Eagles in two seasons of play, went on to win the State Six-Man Champion- ship.
