BASKETBALL Wellington's basketball season started with three practice games with Nunn, Ault, and Windsor. The Eagles defeated Windsor by one point at Wellington and in a later game lost their only game by three points to Windsor. After these practice games the Wellington tea.m was in shape for their first round of conference play. LaPorte, Estes Park, Lyons, Berthoud, Waverly, Timnath, all fell before the rapid-scor- ing and improving Eagles. I As the second round of play progressed, LaPorte, Estes Park, Lyons, and Waverly gave way to the victorious Eagles. During the game with Waverly the Eagles were behind, l7-ll at the half, but the team was ir1 no mood to have its record marred and the deal quickly changed to a nice lead for Wellington by the end of the third quarter, which was sustained to the finish. In mid-February, the Berthoud and Timnath games remained to be played to complete conference play. Under the faithful and untiring efforts of Coach Eyestone, the Eagles then eagerly looked forward to a conference champion- ship and participation in the district and state play-offs.
