We're going to fight. In Welchis fourth game of the campaign they ran into the winners of the area title. Big Creek, who with llave Rider and a numlier of Welch fumbles to help them, racked up a 23-U triumph over the Waves. The fifth contest of the season saw Mullens. a team which up to that time had gon winless all year defeat the Waves hy a 19-0 score. Welchls sixth game was one of the brighter spots of the campaign. Bluefield was one of the higher ranking teams in the state and came to Welch assured of an easy triumph. Instead, they were lucky to eke out a close 6-0 win with a last Don't come any closer! minute score in the fourth quarter. ln the Man contest. Welch picked up their third win by a 6-0 score. It was a hardfought game at the Hill- hillies field and there were many injuries. After going winless for 21 straight games Princeton broke into the win column the next week. with a 31-0 triumph over an injury-riddled Wave eleven. ln the Gary game, the last of the season, the Waves held the Coaldiggers to what looked like a would-lie 13-12 triumph until they broke lose in the fourth quarter and scored three touchdowns making the final count 32-12.
