Miss Hudson Fletires But Her Influence Shall Remain za :gl l Webb School will not be the same without Miss Genevieve Hudson, who retires this year after fourteen years of dedicated service. Coming to Knoxville in 1957 as headmistress of the newly created Girls' School, Miss Hudson gave unstintingly to build an institution devoted to the development not only of academic excellence but also of personal integrity, responsi- bility, and graciousness of spirit. To the girls she was often an Authority Figure, sometimes resisted and resented - in due time respected, admired, loved. Miss Hudson ran a tight ship. Under her keen eye, girls remem- bered to keep their locker doors shut, their shoelaces tied, their shirttails tucked in. To the members of her faculty - a loyal, closeknit group with enviable esprit - she was a strong leader: intellectually tough, flexible, tireless, helpful, generous, and appreciative. With the merging of the Boys' and Girls' Schools, Miss Hudson shifted gears to become ll a well-informed, hard- working college guidance counselor and 2l an extremely inven- tive teacher of 7th grade English. We salute a lady whose motto might well be taken from Chaucer: And gladly wolde he lerne, and gladly teche.
