Interact Club Raffles Car to Aid Community and School With girls taking part for the first time, the Interact Club planned the year's activities at a retreat in Gatlinburg, and the result has been a lively program, with especial emphasis on school service. Aided by a handsome gift of money from the Class of '71, Interact members completed the stone entrance way to the school. Club members also manned the concession stands for football and basketball games: purchased flags for the study hall, and stone benches for outside studying and lounging: organized a campus cleanup: fertilized trees planted by Inter- act several years agog and collected and packed close to a thousand books for needy schools in Appalachia. Away from school Interact members purchased and dec- orated a Christmas tree for the patients at Children's Hospital, where club members, along with the Glee Club, sang Christmas carols in the halls. Near the end of the year Interact cleared several hundred dollars from the raffle of a Volkswagen donated by lVlr. Rodgers of the West Knoxville Rotary Club, and won by Mrs. Brindley of the math department. All in all, a busy year!

Outdoor Club Tramps Through Bushes Trees Grass This year's outdoor club provided the student with a chance to escape from school and family and take to the woods. Hiking was a favorite of all members, with cave exploring and canoeing running a close second. Feature hikes were those to Spence Field and Ice Water Springs, supervised by lVlr. Brewster or lVlr. Averill. Student officers in charge were President Bill Mackebee, Vice-President Louis Crossley, Secre- tary David Stair, and Treasurer Chip Oakley. The students often found life in the woods terrifying, especially the girls who found the Spence Field bears a little too friendly. All activities were well supported, and everyone always had an enjoyable time away from the hustle and bustle of normal life. Long, David Barbour, Betty -Nj yr-A Greer, Vicki Beaman, Ellis --
