The Webb School chapter of the Junior Classical League became simply the Latin Club this year, thereby concentrating on programs for the enrichment of the members, rather than preparation for the annual convention. Consuls Bob Ellison and Eric Deeds organized the club with the aid of Mrs. Jack Fisher and lVlr. J. O. Webber, faculty advisors. The program chairmen were Edwin Lay and Cindy Harrison, and secretary- treasurer was Margaret Yount. One of the most fascinating speakers was Dr. Tom Curtis, who delivered a talk at one of the activity period meetings. He also spoke at the banquet held at the U.T. Faculty Club, which climaxed the year. The highlight of the Mu Alpha Theta Society's year was the initiation dinner held in December. Nineteen new members were taken into the club after having been told the history and purpose of this honorary organization. The members of the club raised a Green Stamp fund, which was presented to a surprised Mr. Frank Lee, for the purchase of an electric cal- culator. Other activities included a field trip to U. T.'s Com- puter Center and a lecture on the concepts of numbers by Dr. Randall Cline. lt is hoped that the club will be more active next year, perhaps combining with a new science club while preserving its uniqueness.
