' I Student Councils Work to While the Student Council may give credit to the students, the- Council' have accomplished' several 'important things this year: They engineered a rule allowing exemption for seniors from final exams at the teacher's discretion, provided the student completes an AP exam, maintains a certain average, or completes a research paper or project in the subject. Anyone with a driver's license may now drive to Saturday School, a true legal breakthrough. There werelseveral minor constitu- tional changes and a bid put in for a new girls' uniform, a proposal heartily encouraged by the boys. Finally, toward the end of the year, a proposal for a change of the boys' hair rule generated endless debate but was finally voted down by the faculty. Aside from these general activities, the Community Service Committee raised over S1100 at the A.F.S. Carnival. ,The Lower School Student Council also brought about some changes. For the first time, the Honor Committee as outlined in the Constitution was brought to reality. The study halls were reorganized, finally becoming student-proctored. These seemed to work better than anything else. The Lower School Council was also very active in the hair rule debate which took place in lVlay. ,rr Change and Improve School
