The A team's seasonal record was two wins, two losses and one tie. The captain of the team was Kirby Chritton, and the co-captains were David Bradley and David Dickson. Their first game of the season was a hard-fought 0-0 tie with Farragut. The next game was with Gibbs. On the opening kickoff John Kreis ran back a 75-yard touchdown to pull us to an early lead. Kirby Chritton, Al Vesser, and Bill Arbo added the remaining touchdowns. The final score was 36-0. The third game of the season was with Halls. The injury-plagued Spartans suffered a 22-0 loss. The Carter game was very disappointing. The Spartans, behind the whole game, fought back hard in the second half, but Arbo's and Vesser's touchdowns were not enough to overcome Carter. The Powell game ended the season on a high note as Webb fought back from a 6-0 deficit. Chritton scored first to t the game, and defensive tackle Bill Yarberry scored on an interception. Al Vesser put the icing on the cake with an 85-yard interception runback, making the final score 18 to 6. This year's standouts were David Dickson, John Kreis, Bill Arbo, Al Vesser, and Marsh Frfere. The experience of this team will help the varsity team next year. Tackle the Tiny Gridiron ABOVE LEFT: Captains David Bradley, Kirby Chrit- ton, and David Dickson pose with their Coach, Larry Prater.
