In February, the team journeyed to Asheville, 1, defeating Asheville Country Day, 86-30, but losing to Asheville School and Christ School. Webb opened its own tournament by gaining revenge over Sewanee and St. Andrews, but had to settle for second place behind Asheville. In the last game of the season, Webb lost out in a bid for the Mid-South A Division title, winding up on the short end of the score against St. Andrews. Honors were bestowed upon several Spartans at the close of the season. Ace rebounder Robert Leyen was named to the Mid-South All Tournament Team. Three other lettermen: Ted Cook, Bobby McCallie, and Chip Howard were named as All Mid-South athletes, with Cook being honored for the second straight year. Next season, with several returning lettermen and consider- able depth and talent, Coach Tarvin hopes to better this yearis record. Nevertheless, the 1968 Spartans played excellent basketball, and brought much excite- ment and honor to the school. 64
