FRONT ROW: Michelle Donovick, Ann Bramstedt, Alan Gozart. BACK ROW: Sam Jelovich, Ray Sundquist, Janet Clay, Robin Preble, Gary Olson. The Class of 1969 was led by unmitigatedly qualified officers. President John Basich presided over the many interesting Senior Class meetings, Vice-President Mark Evans became well-known in senate, and Secretary-Treasurer Diane Heiny served as an inspiration to the entire class. Senior senate included such stalwarts as Alan Gozart, Sam Jelovich, Gary Olson, Ray Sundquist, Ann Bramstedt, Janet Clay, Michelle Donovick, and Robin Preble. These talented senators set a noteworthy example for the rest of the Weatherwax senate. We, the Senior Class of Weatherwax High School, have chosen Mr. William Biisland as our favorite teacher. Mr. Biisland came to Weatherwax in 1962 and has been here every year except 1967 when he attended the University of Hawaii under a federal grant. He traveled extensively throughout the Far East, and his experiences and slides have made his Contemporary World Problems class one of the most interesting in the school. happiness is..being Belinda Aronson JanisAschim Judy Atkinson Paul Arusell Dawn Asikainen Rick Avery Diana Abbott Cathy Acker Brian Ahrendt Gayle Ainsworth Jay Allen Bill Anderson Gary Antich John Antich 22 an a.h.s. senior Allen Barry John Basich Juanita Beck Janet Bcrken John Bernhardt Becky Best Janine Ayers Georgia Bagnell Dan Baker Randy Baker Marlene Ball Dave Ballard Dave Barr Miles Barrett a ride to the Carol Billings Elaine Bivens Steve Blahut Ted Bland Jim B lorn berg Cheryl Bogdanovich Sandy Boulden Cheryl Bowman 24 a.c. at noon Walt Brown Janice Bun Sharon Burnette Brent Butcher Mike Button JoAnne Cady Louise Cady Sharon Caldwell Rita Calica Linda Carpenter Ron Caton Emily Charette Anti-Book-Thcft Program. 25 Kristy Kauhanen and Ray Sundquist Gerald Selin and Pam Newman ability and service Gary Chartrey Dave Ctavadetschcr Ed Clay Jack Clark Dale Claxton Janet Clay Henry Coic Sally Corier Sara Cole Adriana Cozzutto 26 Doug Craig TomCriel Pam Crawford Bill Crowder Marcia Cutts Jim Dalbey Richard Daneker Jan Dahlgren Carol Daneker Arlinc Davenport without exception Most Talented Dawn Asikainen and Rich Daneker A Little Bit of Everything Marcia Cutts and Jim Hann 27 a meditating Jane Davenport Pam Dean John Delia Gary Davis Steve DeLateur Larry Dell k Mother’s Little Helper Helen Donovan Michelle Donovick Steve Dozeman Suzann Dragecevich Seran Druzianich Carol Edingcr Nancy Lklund Glenn Emerson 28 garbage can Marie Enrico Mike Erickson Peter Etelamaki John Evans Linda Evans Mark Evans Tom Evans Chris Evangelista Cheryl Everett Gary Fagerstcdt Vicki Failor Debbie Falk Jane Fenton Diane Ferrier winning Vicki Fraser Donna Friberg Bev Frost Fmily Frost Steve Fry Kathy Furth Tom Furth Frank Gateson Rhonda Francisco Steve Frazer u.w.d. Before the season started Head Coach A1 Eklund along with all the local sports writers agreed that this would be a building year for the ’Cats. But after an opening upset victory over Centralia, Aberdeen easily rolled over the majority of the league. The only blemish on their otherwise perfect record came in the 13-13 tie with Hudson’s Bay. The turning point of the season was the ’Cats 14-7 victory over R.A. Long, acclaimed in pre-season picks as favorites to repeat as conference champs. Sixteen seniors finished their high school carrers with a 20-12 victory, the first in three years, over Hoquiam on Thanksgiving Day. The following week All-Conference selections were published. Denny Hopkins was acclaimed All-Conference quarterback. Also selected to the backfield was Junior fullback Dan Kivi. Rich Van Volkinberg was selected as defensive tackle and Steve Frazer achieved the defensive rover position. At the fall awards assembly Frazer was also acclaimed All-State defensive back. The C-Squad ran up a record of 4 wins and no losses. Adding this to the J. V. record the underclassmen compiled a 10-2 record. I am already feeling the sorrow of losing them; In four more days. It will get much worse; If I could only keep all of them! Everyone says that 1 will get more Like them next year. But I can’t believe that; Each person is unique, And who is more unique? than these I have. It hurts to know that their allegiance will switch Next year and in years to come; Have I done anything for them? Or for the others? Miss Kathleen Fikar was born January 18, 1941. She died July 7, 1968 in an automobile accident in Mexico while attending school there. Miss Fikar taught English at Weatherwax from September, 1962 until June, 1968. The QUIN AULT staff, under the able supervision of Mr. Shillinger, has tried to capture a portion of the spirit, laughter, tears, victories, defeats, and other memorable occurances throughout the year. Like the school it represents, the QUINAULT has undergone many changes since its beginning. One of the major changes this year is the abandoning of group shots which have been replaced by more realistic action shots. Much work has gone into this book and we sincerely hope that you will enjoy the memories contained in your 1969 QUINAULT. Janet Kralevich Andrea Potts Co-editors Janet Kralevich
