Each girl served for one period per day in answering the telephone, taking messages, keeping the of- fice clean and neat, and in gaining experience in office practice. Anyone who called the school knows how well these girls performed their job . . . courteous, polite, well-rnannered. A real credit to Waverly School. V STUDENT COUNCIL Student body officers and representatives from. the intermediate and upper grades comprised the Waverly School Student Council. This group worked with their advisor, Mr. Daseler, in planning activities for the student body. A The Student Council was an excellent example of Democracy in Action, and have guided our student body through an interesting and success ful year. ' 248 students. Rusher elected student body president. Both teams beat Linden in touch football.. OCTOBER Tracy downs us in both touch foot- ball games. h Lightweights tie - Heavyweights lose ' to Montezuma. ' Both teams lose to Davis. Continuous paper drive launched by student body. NOVEMBER Rams' wallop Lincoln - both' games. New school dedicated. Dr. Simpson and Mr. Williams present. Thanksgiving vacation. Teachers' Association has buffetj Chorus entertains. I DECEMBER Parents' Club card party. Basketball opener with Montezuma A's win, but the B's lose. Chorus serenades neighboring schools with Christmas carols. Potluck supper'- Christmas program. Well attended. ' Christmas vacation beginsi JANUARY Last day of vacationl Chartville trips A's, our B's murder 'eml Tracy takes both games. Escalon does likewise! A's scrimmage at Franklin' High. Chorus serenades Mr. Williams at courthouse. Q Teachers go to schoql. FEBRUARY Tracy does it again! School cafeteria opens. A's and B's both take Linden. ' Girl violinist performs in our first school assembly programL I Revenge is sweet. We win both games from Montezuma. ' - Ripon wins two. B's game very close! Parents' Club card party. Duo-magicians perform at school assembly. APRIL - Mr. Eddie, of the county office con- ducts atomic safety drills. Greenwood defeats both girls and boys on the diamond. Easter Vacation. ' Marimba player - assembly. Track teams to Lindenl Alvin Midgette ties for high points. E MAY Montezuma takes us in baseball. Parents 'pitch in to erect carnival boothsl , Shirley Langford Carnival Queen, Wilma Bindi runner-up. Collegeville loses to us in baseball. School Carnival and Junior Olympics Track Meet. Ripon wins three divisions. Waverly A girls triumph. ' ' Dr. Werner from C. O. P. to speak at graduation. We begin swimming at Oak Park. , , JUNE . Mike Palladinqelected Student Body President. s Graduation program. Last day of school. Swimming and picnic at Oak Park. 276 -students in school. JULY Summer session opens. 167 students from 10 school districts. ' I AUGUST - Summer session ends.
