Class Prophecy May 12, 1996 Can it be twenty years since the class of '76 graduated from W.H.S? Well, it must be time to return to Wausa and see what the '76'ers are up to. As I cruised into town, 1 spotted what used to be the Bowling Alley, now boasting a sign saying 'Kathy's Enter- tainment Emporium.1 I was in the mood for some entertaining and 1 had an idea that 1 might find some old friends there, so 1 dropped in. Sure enough, there was Kathy W. introducing the entertainment: Frank L. and Gene L. Sit- ting at the counter were Doyle F., Dave S., and Roger C., in town to kick up their heels after a hard day's work on the farm. After leaving Kathy's, I met Dave E. and Tom C. on the steps of the bank, discussing atomic livestock feed- ing. Kyle N. drove by in his Peterbilt and gave us a friendly honk. Stepping into the bank, I saw many familiar faces. Judy D., Nancy K., and Cindy W. were behind the coun- ter, sorting checks and balancing the books. In his plush office, Ron C. was conducting a business transaction over the phone. When I stepped in to chat, he said he had Bob M. on hold. He was trying to arrange an advertising agreement with him for Paul B. 's and Stan W. 's construction company. Back on main street again, I noticed two familiar business places: Peters Hardware now run by Murray P., and Johnson's Place, Kim J.'s establishment. Although I didn't have time to stop in and see, I hoped that business was good. Having incurred a severe hang nail on my toe, I decided to go down to the doctor's office. As I limped past, I was nearly run over by Tim A., who was backing out a car of a mechanics shop. Inside the building 1 noticed Will S. and Marty M. working on Bill T.'s 40 20 tractor. Finally reaching the medical clinic, Sharlene T. caught me as 1 fainted in pain. Gail B. dragged me into an examination room where Denise M., LPN, sterilized my toe. Patrice E. with the help of Connie P. and a smJl toe nail clippers performed minor surgery. On my way out, Laddy C., who had set up a take-out prescription center, prescribed a mild pain killer. Feeling much relieved, I sprinted up to the school house on the hill and noticed the old middle section had been condemned and tom down. Ed R. and Brian B. were busy laying bricks for this and also for a new Special Ed. sec- tion, which was headed by Carlene L. 1 walked in and was greeted by Cheryl M., who is the new administrative assistant. Mary C. was the bookkeeper for the system. While I was walking down the hall, I ran into Jill W. who was visiting Robert C., the industrial arts teacher, during parent-teacher conferences about one of her sons. Leaving the building, 1 heard a plane fly over which had a sign on it reading 'John R. Commercial Airlines.' Rande R., one of the passengers, was flying off to his next assignment in the Army. 1 was glad to learn that all the members of '76 had succeeded so well in their life goals. 16
