CLASS PROPHECY Now I was walking down the main street of New York in the summertime. As I walked along, I noticed the sound of cheering voices in a gym. I walked in and recognized a familiar face of the team's coach. It was then that I realized that this was a former classmate of mine. David Banks. I also noticed that the main scorer for his team was another classmate. Rowlan Anderson. I knew this game was going to be hard fought as the opposing team's coach was Duane Swanson. I was anxious to find out which team would be the victor, but I had to hurry on my way to get my hair set. as I was invited to attend a banquet that evening. As I walked into the salon 1 was greeted by a charming little miss with a smile I recognized as belong- ing to Betty Kliment. The sound of hammers and saws attracted my attention and I asked Betty what was being built. She informed me that her business was expanding so greatly that she had to build on a large addition to her salon. She explained that Gordon Moeller and his firm were doing an excellent job of remodeling. I found that time was going very fast and I had to rush over to a dress agency to get my gown I had designed for the evening by the noted fashion designer, Karen Suhr. As I walked out of her office I noticed her secretary was bringing some mail into her. It wasn't long until I recognized her as being Rogene Nelson. Rogene told me that another close friend of hers was also a secretary and that her name was Marlyce Swanson. I was pleased to hear that Marlyce was a private secretary to a prosperous attorney. Upon arriving at the dinner that evening I was greeted by many people. One man, however, especially attracted my attention. When he began to talk of his beef cattle I wondered if it was Robert Swanson, the prosperous rancher. He said that he owned two-thousand head of cattle at last count. We were in- terrupted by the waiter, who informed us that dinner was served. After enjoying an excellent meal, the main speaker left his seat and revealed the main reason for the banquet. He told us that the Scientist's Award of the Year was to be presented that evening. I was truly thrilled as the names Robert Greenwall and David Swanson were read. They had received this outstanding award for the feat of developing the first rocket to reach the moon. After presenting the awards the speaker began the lecture for the evening. As I gazed at his dignified uniform I noticed five stars on it. It was then that I realized this was Arthur Halleen, the Admiral of the Fleet. It was good to see my classmates succeeding so well. I had learned that Ronald Fink had helped the two scientists draw up the plans for the successful rocket. Another speaker explained some facts about electrical engineering. This man’s dark brown eyes and blond hair told me this must be the outstanding electrical engineer, Roger Lindquist. The next day I planned to visit the city hospital as I wanted to deliver some charity funds to the expan- sion program they had planned. When I entered the building I recognized a smiling, sunny face seated behind a huge desk with the inscription of Judith Swanson, Head of Nurses. After a short talk with her I found she was doing very well. On the way to the hospital I had noticed a young man showing another man how to repair a car. Judith informed me that this was Douglas Wamberg. She said Douglas owned the whole building and had earned his first million in a very short time. After another long day I retired to my apartment. I sat in my lounging chair and began to read the evening paper. I noticed that the editor of the paper was Richard Schultz. As I continued to read it, my eyes caught the headline. Judith Bengston, Named Teacher of the year. This pleased me as I knew she deserved it. She was always very efficient in high school. I also read that Jon Evan Nordstrom was to hold a conference with the president of the United States to inform him what needed to be done about the country's natural resources conservation. When I realized that my stay in New York must come to a close, I called the airport. They informed me that I would be able to leave the next day. Airplanes were arriving and taking off again constantly at the huge airport. I went to the office to get my papers. The office accountant, I found, was Donavon Thorell. He told me that my plane had just arrived so I left at once. As I climbed aboard, I was greeted by a small stewardess, whom, by the brown eyes, I recognized as being Sharon Glllllan. I took my seat next to a blond young woman. Her face looked like that of the social worker whose picture was in the paper for her outstanding work in the city's hospital. When informed that this was the very same one, Adele Newqulst, I felt very proud of our class of 1961. The sound of the engines on the plane were growing very distant now and I began to lose sight of things. I became startled by the sound of a loud voice, whom I knew was that of my mother. She asked me why I wasn't up yet as it was getting late. I woke up and realized that it was the last day of school, and I'd have to hurry to get there on time. Slowly I climbed out of bed still in a little daze, and I won- dered if, in live or ten years, all of my classmates would be doing just the occupations I had dreamed they had that night.
