CLASS PROPHECY One bright morning in May, I decided to write a book. After scribbling over a dozen large economy size sheets of paper'and accomplishing little, I decided I hadn't enough information on hand. I'd take a trip 1 I packed my bags and before I knew it my cab had arrived. I opened the door and found myself face to face with the cab driver, Jerry Bauerly. Seemed like old times! It was the same old Jerry always trying out new ideas. He now owned his cab company with all cabs equipped with swivel chairs. I bade him a hasty good-bye as I boarded my plane. I was welcomed by a charming hostess in a crisp, blue uniform. It was then I realized that Ardis Halleen’s dreams had come true. She seemed glad to see me and led me to a seat. I seated myself and looked at the person beside me who appeared to be a very distinguished business man. It was none other than Jon Phillips, an established pharmacist, who was on his way to Brazil for a restful fishing trip. Our plane landed and I began to search for a place to eat. I happened upon a large restaurant not far from my hotel called Bonnie's Lunch Box. I was happy to see Bonnie Rosen as she greeted us at the door. It was a lovely place and the food was delicious. As I was eating the floor show began. There on the stage performing was world famous, Dennis Black and his Cool Combo. Next on the program was that entertaining, famous for his laughs, John Hillberg. He completely captivated the audience by being a second George Gobel. I returned to my hotel and in the doorway I met Bruce Bloomquist. We were both delighted and Bruce exclaimed, I'm finally a big banker! I manufacture piggy banks. He then drove away in his big black and white jet-propelled Chevie. Next morning I arose refreshed and ready to be on my way again. 1 went into the lobby and by acci- dent stumbled into a room occupied by three very imponant looking men. It was the executives of the CBS corporation in conference - Richard Carlson, Roger Benstson, and Roger Swanson. They invited me in and while we were talking their hard-working secretary, Karen Larson, entered. We talked over old times, but too soon it was time for me to leave. Rushing to my plane to my dismay I discovered that I had lost my gloves. I frantically searched for a store and it was then I saw Madam Sharon's Style Shop. The owner of this exclusive shop was Sharon Lindquist, a former classmate. I rushed to the airport just in time to see my plane leave. My spirits lightened when I heard a fam- iliar laugh and I turned to see LaNoy Norman. He informed me that he was bookkeeper for a chain of grocery stores. He suggested to me that we visit Eldon Fink, who was now happily married and owned his own farm of seven sections. We learned from Eldoa that Richard Nelson had also been very success- ful in farming. Upon returning to the city I heard the honking of a horn behind me. It was Doug Claussen and he asked me if I would like to take a tour of the school where te was coaching. After arriving at school our first stop was at the First and Second Grade room. We were welcomed by the smiling teacher, Jean Banks. She asked us if we would like to join her and her class to see an assembly program. She informed us that Mary Lou Johnson was Home Economics teacher so we decided to pick her up. We were disap- pointed that she couldn't go, but we fully understood when we saw her with twenty garments underfoot and she calmly explained, The girls will never finish by the end of the semester so I'm sewing their garments for them. The program featured the famous poet, Patrick Haley. Afterward when we were getting Pat’s autograph he told us that Gary Custer was an Admiral in the United States Navy. He seemed to be doing well at the Pentagon. As I was returning from the school I chanced to see a sign across the street entitled, JoAnn's Beauty Parlor. I was right! JoAnn Suhr had established a thriving business and was doing fine. She informed me that Vicky Pearson was a lab technician in a New York hospital and that Linda Anderson was a private secretary in Los Angeles and had just recently married the bosses' son. Back on the street I noticed a carload of girls coming. I looked again and saw Loren Bruder driving. It seems he was playing professional football and quite a star—so the girls said! Pleasant memories filled my mind as I boarded my plane for home again. I was proud and happy to have known and been a part of the Class of 1958. GENELLI STUDIOS 711 Pierce Street Sioux City, Iowa
