Class History On September 3, 1951, twenty-two green Freshmen entered Wausa High School to continue their educational acti- vities . They were Roger Anderson, Vonel Anderson, Sonja Carlson, William Eifert, JaNelle Fink, Gary Fuelberth, Beverly Hanson, Dennis Hult, LaVon Johnson, Merle,Larson, Marlyn Lind- blad, Terry Mainquist, Arvida Mattson, Rowan Nelson, David Nordstrom, Del- wyn Norman, Lois Norman, Dale Rosen, Nellie Smith, Robert Stromberg, Jerry Swanson, and Marlene Windell. At the beginning of the second semester, Deanna Ayers and Don Marlatt enrolled in the class, bringing the total to twenty-four. The following officers were elected: president, Terry Mainquist; vice-presi- dent, Merle Larson; secretary, Arvida Mattson; treasurer, Lois Norman. Bev- erly Hanson, Sonja Carlson, Roger Anderson, and David Nordstrom were elected to serve on the student council. Class sponsor was Mrs. Norman Swan- son. JaNelle Fink and Terry Mainquist were the Homecoming Attendants from the Freshman Class. On September 1, 1952, twenty-four Sophomores returned to Wausa High. Don Marlatt moved away during the year, thus decreasing the enrollment to twenty- three. Class officers were: president, Merle Larson; vice-president, David Nordstrom; secretary, Sonja Carlson; treasurer, Vonel Anderson. Beverly Hanson, Lois Norman, Terry Mainquist, and Dennis Hult represented the class on the student council. Mrs. Jean Maison and Don Erfourth served as class spon- sors . Attendants to the King and Queen at Homecoming were Beverly Hanson and Merle Larson. Twenty-five Juniors enrolled on Au- gust 31, 1953, for their third year of high school. Stuart Nelson and Eugene Bloomquist were the new members of the class. During the course of the school year, four students left school, leaving an enrollment of twenty-one. Class officers were: president, Eugene Bloomquist; and vice-president, Dale Rosen, for the first semester; and presi- dent, Dennis Hult; and vice-president, Terry Mainquist; for the second semester. LaVon Johnson served as secretary, and Arvida Mattson as treasurer, for the entire year. Student council representa- tives were Arvida Mattson, Lois Nor- man, Dennis Hult, and Terry Mainquist. The Juniors presented their class play, Shadows in the Night, on November 13. Mrs. V. Glaze Reed directed the play. On May 7, the Seniors were honored by the Juniors with the annual Junior-Senior Banquet. The theme was Jester's Jeopardy. Mrs. V. Glaze Reed and Don Erfourth were the class sponsors. Homecoming Attendants were Sonja Carlson and Stuart Nelson. On August 30, 1954, twenty Seniors returned to Wausa High for their final year. Robert Stromberg had enlisted in the Air Force the previous summer. The following class officers were elect- ed: president, Terry Mainquist; vice- president, Dennis Hult; secretary, Arvida Mattson; treasurer, Lois Nor- man. These four Seniors, Dennis, Terry, Arvida, and Lois, also served on the student council for the year. The Seniors presented their class play, Old Doc, on December 3, with Mrs. Reed as director. The Senior's pictures were taken on October 25 by Genelli Studios of Sioux City. Baccalaureate was held on May 15, and Commencement exer- cises were held on May 18. Senior class sponsors were Superintendent W.H. Johnson and Principal K.V. Tadlock. COMMERICAL STATE BANK Wausa, Nebraska
