CLASS PROPHECY OF 1964 As we approached a launching pad near Cape Canivarel in our jet-propelled space sports coupe, we suddenly halted, realizing we had just passed LONNIE SHACKELFORD, who was testing the engines of the latest missle to insure an A-O. K. take off. As we chatted of old times, we noticed a suspicious little character snooping around our space coupe. We hurriedly rushed to the scene of the crime, only to discover it was our curious mechanic classmate, JUNIOR DEHART, exploring our engine. After chatting a few more moments and extending our invitations, we hopped into our little 4009 and zoomed away to New York City and continued our journey around the world in 80 minutes. This was to extend personal invitations to the great class of 1964 of Wauneta High School to the Old Settlers' Ball of 2084. As we entered the newly remodeled Idlewild Airport, we were happily greeted by an airline hostess who we discovered was our own classmate, CONNIE BERRY, who is ready to descent into the outer limits, but promised to return for the Old Settlers' Ball. She informs us that we also could find DARLENE BALDANADO and JUDY FANNING who are attending the annual stewardress convention at Idlewild. After we had found them, we hailed a cab and were almost side-swiped by an anxious-to-please cab driver. We nearly lost our balance completely when we discovered it was our old classmate, TERRY GREELY. He expertly manuerved his way to 5th Avenue where we told him goodbye until the Ball. Upon entering Macy's, we proceeded to see NEIL STOCK who was showing his current fashion designs. Nearby, we found TRUDY GlOY, who was showing her creative hair styles to coincide with Neil's fashions. After leaving Macy's, we proceeded to Stayo Clinic where we found our brilliant classmate, JOYCE DANIEL, who was Stayo's best lab technician. She told us we could find ROBERT NORDHAUSEN and DOUGLAS RESLER in the experimenting departments. We found Doug working on the latest discoveries of the outer space on the effects of the human body. In the next department, we found Bob perfecting his Purple Pet Pills which were to insure youth. After leaving Stayo's, we decided to rest a few minutes and browse around the New York Public Library. The head librarian was none other than DANA WADE. After reliving a few moments from the past, she told us she had just seen SYLVIA YOST over in the commercial department. We found Sylvia searching for additional information for the DuPont Company--of which VAUGHN MCBRIDE is president. She assured us that he would be notified of the Old Settlers' Ball. Suddenly, we were rushed bya.group of young teenagers scrambling over us. When we discovered what they were doing, we joined the mob ourselves. They were all rushing DONITA BULLARD for her autograph. She had been writing since high school, we knew, but we had a pleasant surprise when we found out her latest book was currently rating best-selling book. We exited New York a few moments later after personally asking each of our former students to be on hand in a couple of weeks for our big celectration. In a few moments, we were over the Great Plains area. We visited Southern Middle Kansas University first. There, we found SUE HOFF and ANNE Mc-CALLUM instructing the younger generation. Next, we approached a farm area, and discovered a National Convention of farmers and their executives. The head men were GENE TIVIS and CHARLES INGOLD. We then proceeded to Rocky Mountain National Park where we were greeted by forest ranger STEVEN HOLUNGER. We buzzed over to Montana and witnessed a little home life on the ranch of DONNA NORDHAUSEN and her family. We also extended our invitation to DUANE EGLE who had established his own veterinary clinic near where Donna lived. We then jaunted down to Arizona and found JANET KRAUSNICK happily married, and in a nearby school of elementary children. We happily chatted a very few monents with SUSAN HAM. After a few more seconds travel, we landed in Las Vegas where we found RICHARD GERDES and STANLEY GERDES sharing their wealth from the Stands Hotel and the Golden Nuggest Gambling Cassino. We next stopped at the Southeastern University of Callywood, Hollyfomia and found BONNIE WICKE who was the home economics instructor. Down in the underground science lab, we found GARY EDWARDS experimenting with the atomic-hydrogen-nuclear bomb. Tired, after 80 full minutes of traveling, but happy, we returned to the designated night club where the ball was to be held. As we started decorating, we happily reminsced but anxiously awaited the reunion of the students from that wonderful year of 1964. 16
