MAJORETTES Lenna Gauger, Pat Polly, Jeannie Crow, Phyllis Brunt, Linda Springer, and Rita Petr were Band Majorettes for the second consecutive year. They twirled their batons and did different routines while the band performed their shows at all of Wauneta's home games. They went to the Boulder Band Day with the band. The music department presented them with pins for their outstanding work. CHEERLEADERS The cheerleaders for the Pep Club this year were Genevieve DeHart, Sharon Hewitt, Colleen McBride, Jo Webber, Margaret DeHart, and Kathy Einspahr. Genevieve served as head cheerleader with Sharon and Colleen as the other two first team cheerleaders. The two little mascots were Candy Sue Goff and Nancy Scheuler. The editors of the Hoofprints are Pat Polly and Jean Maris. Pat also writes a column called, Pat's Top Talk, and Jean will write a new column entitled, Orchids 'n Onions. Elaine Anderson will continue writing, Tips for Teens. This 'n That will be written by Mary Ann Fort-kamp. Sharon Hewitt is in charge of the Ag and FFA news and Colleen McBride is in charge of the Pep Club news. Kathy Heldenbrand, who calls her column, Kathy's Korner, and Nola Troxel are responsible for the Grade News. Hene Berry is in charge of the Music Department. Interesting Interviews of tire teachers, both Grade and High, will be taken care of by Kathy Einspahr. Lenna Gauger writes features and other special activities. The Home Ec. Department will be covered by Betty Muths. 18 The Student Council, which is made up of representatives from each class and organization, is headed by the following officers: Roger Deininger, President; Craig Gibbons, Vice-President; and Pete Fanning, Secretary. Mr. C. J. Sutherland is the advisor. The other members are Cathy Haarberg, Sheila Greeley, Pat Polly, Connie Carrigan, George Ziegler, and John Parker. The council is a group which represents the school as a whole. Each class and organization select one member to represent them on the council. These student's points of view are put to work in plans for school activities, which make it possible for the various organizations to work together for school improvement. The student council is responsible for school dances, parties, and all other activities in which the school participates. Under the direction of Mr. Stark the Paper Staff has been reorganized into a regular class. From now on, a person will get the same credit from Paper Staff as they do from Band or Modern Choir. Meetings are held on Tuesday and Thursday. At the Tuesday meeting each person gets his column typed so it will be ready to be taken down to the Breeze office. Then at the Thursday meeting, they organize this material for the next week's column. Frequently a meeting is held so that all members can benefit by the suggestions and criticism of others.
