F.F.A. QUEEN AND ATTENDENTS The F. F. A. Queen of 1953, Beth Hahn, was crowned by the queen of 1952, Evonne Einsphar. The queen was given a white F. F. A. jacket and corsage of blue carnations by the President, Jerry Weber. The attendents, Twilla Gau- ger, Marlene Brown, Carol Einsphar and Evonne Einsphar were escorted by the officers, Karl Polly, Vice President, Kenneth Meyer, Treasurer, Gene Maddux, Secretary, and Don Harvey, Reporter. Others who received recogni- tion were: Richard Christensen, Creed Speaker, Virgil Doetker, Glen Lewis, and Clifford Seymore, Dairy and Livestock Judging team, and Gary Sandman, Don Harvey, Bud Howard, Livestock team. The Dairy team placed first in District 7, and the Livestock team placed second. Eugene Haargerg received the De Kalb Award. After awards were given, lunch was served by the mem- bers of F. F. A. Dance music was furnished by Wiley Green's Orchestra. HONOR STUDENTS OF I953 Marleen Lamb, Class Valedictorian, received State Teachers College Scholar- ship. Twilla Gauger, Salutatorian, won Regents Scholarship, also the Church School Scholarship. Rhea Kay Johnston, third in the class, won a Scholarship to McCook Junior College. GIRL AND BOY STATE Wauneta was represented at the Legion-Auxiliary sponsored Girls' and Boys' State in 1953 by Gene Maddux and Beth Hahn. Gene ran for Lincoln County Judge. Most of his discussion groups centered on SoilConservation problems. Beth ran for Lincoln County Assesor. A trip through the State Capital was of ATHLETIC BANOU ET The 1953 Pep Club banquet for lettermen was held in the basement of the Lutheran Redeemer Church. The welcome was given by toast mistress Clar- ine Brunkhorst and Jack Neverve responded for the boys. Decorations in- cluded trackshoes, basketballs and footballs with names of the lettermen, res- pectively. The nut cups were made in the form of cheerleaders. After the banquet, those present went to the gym to dance to the music of Wiley Green's Orchestra. particular interest. 24-
